It’s the perfect way to start learning Norwegian and prepare for your new life in Norway without having to wait. If you have already received your visa, you also have the option to take this part of the course in Norway.

B1-B2 level Norwegian coursesThis stage includes two Norwegian courses: B1 and B2. B2 exam “Bergenstesten”
The advanced Norwegian language test (B2-C1) is required for medical authorization, professional, or academic purposes in Norway. It assesses reading, listening, writing, and speaking, proving the ability to work or study in Norwegian.

Step 3
Final Qualification and Authorisation in NorwayThe final stage of medical authorization happens in Norway. Candidates must complete the kurs in Nasjonale Fag and pass both the Medical Proficiency Exam (Medisinsk Kunnskapstest) and the Practical Proficiency Exam (Praktisk Kunnskapstest). Successfully finishing this step grants full authorization from the Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet) to work as a licensed healthcare professional.

Kurs i nasjonale fag
The course applies to all healthcare personnel with education from countries outside the EU/EEA area applying for authorisation in Norway. It provides essential knowledge about the Norwegian healthcare system, laws, and regulations, and understanding of the legal and ethical framework. It covers key topics such as patient rights, medical ethics, communication with patients and colleagues, and the structure of the Norwegian health services. The course is a mandatory part of the authorisation process.

Medical Proficiency Examination (Medisinsk Kunnskapstest)
The mandatory exam for healthcare professionals with education from outside the EU/EEA seeking authorisation to practice in Norway. It is conducted by the University of Oslo and assesses candidates' medical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and understanding of Norwegian healthcare regulations.

Final Exam (Praktisk Kunnskapstest)
The practical skills assessment for healthcare professionals educated outside the EU/EEA. It evaluates clinical skills, patient communication, and the ability to handle real-world medical scenarios in accordance with Norwegian healthcare standards. Conducted at authorised hospitals or medical institutions in Norway. It is the last major step before obtaining full authorisation from the Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet). Candidates must also complete a mandatory supervised practice period (turnustjeneste or LIS1 for doctors) before being eligible for independent practice.
