Ukrainian students happy with Folkeuniversitetet’s Norwegian Courses
These days, a group of Ukrainian students is finishing their last Norwegian course at Folkeuniversitetet. After completing a total of eight courses over seven months, they now speak almost fluent Norwegian.
"We are very satisfied with the courses. It has been a good start for us, and the teacher has been skilled at making the content understandable and engaging," says one of the students. The group has followed all the Norwegian courses at Folkeuniversitetet; from A1 to B2-part 3.
"We all chose to continue with Folkeuniversitetet after the A1 course because we appreciated the opportunity to speak with people from different countries. It has been interesting to learn about others' lives and cultures, and we have gained a lot from the discussions and the teaching."
They all agree that one of the challenges of learning the Norwegian language has been remembering the sentence structure. “Even though it is not very complicated, it is still a challenge because we do not have as strong a sentence structure in Ukrainian.”
What cultural differences have you noticed between Norway and Ukraine?
"We have noticed several cultural differences between Norway and Ukraine. Norwegians can seem more reserved and private compared to Ukrainians. Additionally, we experience that great emphasis is placed on punctuality and organization in Norway, which can be different from what we are used to in Ukraine."
