Ten tips for learning Norwegian
How to learn Norwegian as quickly as possible? Here are some good tips to help you along the way!

- Ask yourself why you want to learn the language. What motivates you?
- Jump into it! Start speaking Norwegian right away. Just words or phrases will get you going in the beginning.
- Set your mind to it! Practice every day for best progression. It may be on the bus, while waiting for someone or before you go to sleep. Download an app or podcast.
- Learn the vocabulary. Spend a lot of your time to learn new words. It will get you a long way to learn 5-10 new words a day. Remember to repeat!
- Learn the basic grammar!
- Listen! To improve your pronounciation skills you have to listen before you can speak. Watch, listen and imitate native speakers!
- Make mistakes! You will not learn the language without puttin yourself out there. Have fun and don’t be shy.
- Set your learning goals! Small goals and a definiate time for when to do something makes it easier to stick to it.
- Live the language! Talk, sing, read and dream in Norwegian. Listen to music, radio and podcasts. Get to know the Norwegian culture by watching the news, Norwegian films and listen to Norwegian music. It gives you something to talk to Norwegians about.
- Take a language course at Folkeuniversitetet! Structured learning with a teacher and other participants in a friendly environment is fun and motivating – and you will make new friends and acquaintances!
