Norwegian courses in Bergen and Hordaland

Welcome to our courses in Norwegian for speakers of other languages! After only a few courses you will find that you are able to cope in Norwegian with most of the situations you meet in your daily life. Here are our courses:

  • Courses with quick progression
    48/52 teaching hours (45 minutes) per course, divided into 4 hour classes
  • Daytime courses 2 and 4 days a week starts at 10.15 - 13.45
  • Evening courses twice a week, Monday + Wednesday or Tuesday+Thursday. Start at 17.30 - 20.45

 

Certified provider
Folkeuniversitetet is an officially certified provider of Norwegian language courses. Participants who have completed 300 teaching hours of Norwegian language courses including social studies, will be provided with a certificate comprising all 300 hours. After obtaining the certficate, you must take direct contact with the police. Participants who do not wish to base their application for permanent residency on the 250 + 50 hours rule, may choose to take Norsprøve 2 (after level 3+4) or Norskprøve 3 (after level 7+8) or Bergenstesten (after the course for Test Preparation).You may read more about your rights and obligations here.

Participants must be familiar with the Latin alphabet.

Level 0 - A2

Norwegian course 1 +2
Study material
: Ny i Norge, units 1-11, (text and workbook) + Grammarbook
This course is for beginners. You will acquire basic language skills in Norwegian combined with an introduction to Norwegian culture and society. Homework assignments are a key komponent of our courses and are essential in making progress.

Norwegian course 3+4
Study material: Ny i Norge, units 11-22, (text and workbook) + Grammarbook                   
This course is for foreigners who have received between 50 and 60 hours of tuition and are able to understand and use a limited number of daily expressions and phrases actively.

Level B1

Norwegian course 5 + 6
Study material:
Stein på stein, chapters 1-6, text and workbook.
The course develops further on language skills that you learnt in previous courses. At this stage, we focus more on Norwegian culture and social life; in addition you will expand vocabulary and analyse the Norwegian language in more depth. Homework assignments are a key component of our courses and are essential in making progress.


Norwegian course 7+8
Study material: Stein på stein, chapters 7-14, text and workbook.
In this course you sharpen your language skills based on what you had in previous courses. Some grammar topics are repeated and you will be assigned more writing exercises. Oral activities are also an important component of this course, there will be discussions on current topics. Homework assignment are a key component of our courses and are essential in making progress. After this course you will be able to takeNorskprøve 3.

Level B2
Testforberedende
Study material:
Her på berget,  (text and workbook )
In this course you will strengthen your language skills further. You will increase your fluency and will increase your vocabulary. In addition you will improve writing skills. Text and discussions will be held on Norwegian living standards and Norwegian society. Homework assingments are a key component of our courses and are essential in making progress. After completing this course you should be able to take Norwegian test on a higher level (Bergenstesten).
