"Norskprøve 2 for voksne innvandrere"
is a final test at level A2, and qualifies the candidate for a certificate. Norskprøve 2 measures language skills at level A2, an elementary level, and consists of two parts: writing and speaking. The two parts of the test can be taken separately.
Dictionaries and other reference books are not allowed on the test.

The test is marked using a correction key and evaluation form that have been developed by Norsk Språktest. The writing part is marked centrally, while the speaking part is evaluated at the test centre.

Norskprøve 2 – writing
measures the candidate’s skills in reading, listening and writing.

Listening test
The listening test measures the candidate’s ability to understand simple information about familiar topics and to apprehend the main points in short, simple messages and announcements when enunciation is clear.

The listening test consists of a number of short conversations and messages related to situations that are of immediate relevance or familiar, such as personal relationships, shopping, transport, work and the immediate environment. The tasks give the candidate the opportunity to demonstrate his/her ability to comprehend the main point and some details in clear, simple messages and announcements, and to identify the theme in conversations. The language is simple and clear, and each listening text is played twice.

For each listening text, there is a written question. The question is read aloud on the CD before the listening text is played. The candidate answers by marking the correct answer or writing a short answer.

Reading test
The reading test measures the candidate’s ability to read and understand the main point and some specific information in very short, simple texts.

The reading test consists of short, simple reading texts. For example, these may be informative texts such as advertisements, announcements, brochures, notices, menus, instruction manuals and timetables, as well as other simple written texts such as personal letters, short factual texts, or short newspaper items.

The tasks give the candidate the opportunity to demonstrate his/her ability to comprehend the main point and some details in the texts.

There are written questions for each reading text. The candidate answers by marking the correct answer or writing a short answer.

Writing test
The writing test measures the candidate’s ability to write very short, simple texts relating to the most important aspects of everyday life.

The writing test consists of two tasks. In the first task, the candidate is asked to write a short message or announcement. In the second task, the candidate is asked to write, for example, a short narrative, a description or a personal letter.

Norskprøve 2– Speaking
Norskprøve 2 – speaking
measures oral production and interaction. Two candidates take the test together.

The speaking test consists of three tasks. Tasks A and C are individual tasks. The candidate introduces herself/himself and tells something about, for example, his/her personal background, family, interests, education, personal experiences. Task B measures the candidate’s ability to handle a social exchange. In this task the candidate converses with her/his partner candidate. The task gives the candidates the opportunity to demonstrate that they can carry on a conversation about everyday activities, exchange simple information, state likes and dislikes, and generally contribute to sustaining the interaction.
